The Growler is the latest addition to
the Whitby charter fleet.
An 'Offshore' 25, powered by a Yanmar
turbo intercooled diesel, she was launched in September 2003. The boat was
built by anglers, for anglers and has an MCA certificate. This allows us to
operate up to 60 miles from Whitby, which with favourable sea conditions can
easily be reached within 2½ hours of leaving port, placing us over
wrecks and marks not normally fished by the rest of the charter boats.
However, during summer months, excellent fish can be caught from wreck
and ground marks within 25 miles. In previous years, many fish over 30 pounds
have been caught in these limits.
Since its launch, the following
species have featured heavily in catches aboard the Growler: -
Cod, Ling, Haddock, Coalfish, Whiting, Pollack, Mackerel, Pouting and Herring.
Growler is licenced for 8 anglers, which offers
comfortable fishing, but we would normally only take 6 anglers. We recommend
that if you book the boat, limit your party to 6 anglers, as this offers even
more comfort and fishing space and reduces the risk of line
tangles.
Growler has full safety and lifesaving equipment
as required by the MCA.
